Points are awarded on an increasing basis - based on size beginning with a 20” walleye and a 27” northern.

After 30+ years of drive to resorts and 10 years of fly-in vacations with other outfitters, the group came to Uchi Lake for the first time in 2003. Prior to that time, the highest total points to win the Shad Rap Trophy was 32k. Since coming to Uchi Lake, the point winners have totaled 45, 90 and 89 respectively with this year’s winner yet to be determined.

To date and our trip is not over until Thursday, June 15th our count is as follows:

Don - 29” W, 26” W
Bill - 28” W, 28” W
Ron - 28”W, 28” N
Chuck - 26” W
Tom - 24” W

Our count as of evening of June 11th ( which would be 4 days fishing ) includes 76 walleyes between 20” and 25”............More to come........

IT's A DOUBLE HEADER - Henderson Party

Fred hooked a big fish and didn’t know just how big!!!! He told Gary to get the net and before he could, Gary had a fish on as well. The kicker is who gets the net? Luckily for Fred Gary did the honorable thing - released his 21 inch walleye and proceeds to help Fred with a whopping 29 incher....Picture will be posted on the photo gallery page after all proof is in the pudding!!! They both had a fantastic time and it was sad to say farewell to the Henderson party. A great bunch of guys!!1

We Came, We Saw, We Conquered

Smiling Jim had a 27”, two 25’s, two 24’s and a boat total of 102 fish so far. Phil had a 27”
walleye, 26”, 25”, 24” and is looking for a 28” to close out the straight.

Kevin scored a 27 1/2” walleye for master angler status. Son Josh is so happy his lips are cracking from smiling all day.

Best to Ray who will be joining Uchi in late June. We left a few for you. All fish were returned except shorelunch.

Carl and Dave Fielder boasts a couple of 25” walleyes and a half dozen 24 inchers.

Jims says......FISH ARE ON FIRE....... You just have to be here to appreciate and feel the love for this fishery..........

The Story continues with the Sackett Party - first timers to fish Uchi Lake. Went through 69 dozen minnows and one went artificial. Gordon measured a 28 1/2” walleye. Frank says a lot of them they didn’t bother to measure cause there were so many of them. Not a fisherman’s lie either. Franks released three over 25 inch walleyes and 3 to five during the afternoon hours. Released a lot of 22 inchers.

Ken released three pike over 34 inches. Not bad for first timers - never been on Uchi Lake before. We sure enjoyed their company and hope they return.

Walt Corrects Jim

According to Walt, Jim has always had poor math skills. The true count is 22 walleye caught over 24 inches over the last three days.
Despite his advanced age, he needs to work on counting quote by Walt.

Storm hit last evening, fishing picked up afterwards, and the bonfire and toasting was a great way to end the day.

6,6,06 - Devil's Day (So they say....)

Jim O'Brien reporting in at 4:00 p.m. We have 20 walleyes over 24 inches after three days. In addition three master angler walleyes (master angler is 27 1/2 inch plus). This morning Jim and Phil had 75 fish just their boat alone. Today chartreuse jigs were the ticket. Still waiting on Walt (part of the O'Brien group) for his report.

Fish are in shallow bays. Day has been overcast and light rain. It's a little windy today but most are still out on the water. Steve Harrison lands a 35" northern off the dock while waiting to boat over to shorelunch. News at shorelunch is that a member of the Townes party (new group) landed a 39" northern. Guy and Mervin put on a spectacular lunch as usual. Skies are clear and temps are warm.

2005 Newsletter

Thanks to all my guests for another great season.
