We have spent a wonderful week among the helpful and happy people of Uchi Lake Resort. The fishing has been great, many, many walleyes and northern pike. Many days we caught 25 walleyes in less than tWO hours and then threw for northern pike until shore lunch. Lunch on the island prepared is to perfection! The biggest walleye this week was 25 inches and the biggest northern was 39. If you are considering a trip to Uchi Lake Lodge here is our advice, SET THE HOOK!!!

Judy,
Just wanted to let you know how much we all appreciated the hospitality again provided at Uchi Lake!!
We had a great time and caught plenty of fish, it is obvious that your conservation efforts have paid off over the years. We did not do a very good job updating your fish board, so I will summarize.

Biggest Walleyes-
31-1/4″ John Roberts
31″ Steve Daniels
28″ plus-4
27″ plus-7
Abundant amount of fish between 25″ and 27″.

Biggest Northerns-
40″ Dave Grant
36″ Jeff Olson
More northerns caught between 23″ and 27″’s than in the past.

We have been coming up for 20+years now and the fishing continues to be outstanding and get’s better every year. We had some new folks in our group this year and they all commented on how they had the time of there life. The fishing obviously is our drive, the camaraderie is what keeps us coming back.
Looking forward to our 2011 trip!!
Thanks to you and your crew!!
The Grant Party

Fishing at Uchi Lake is a dream come true. It is the best of several worlds. My wife and I recently completed our second trip to Uchi, and enjoyed it even more than the first trip. The walleye fishing is fantastic. The two of us caught more than 500 walleyes in the 7 days we spent at Uchi. The size of the fish is amazing! About one third of the walleyes we caught on this trip were 20 inches or greater in length. And boy, were they ever fat. The fish at Uchi must be on a high protein diet, because they were both good size and good fighters. The service we received from Judy and her staff was top notch. I believe you would be hard-pressed to find any better service at any fishing camp in Ontario. The bottom line is “They take care of you!” I would recommend Uchi Lake Lodge to anyone who is considering a fishing trip to Canada. They provide you with the complete Canadian fishing experience that all of us are after. Yes, we booked next year’s trip to Uchi before we left. We couldn’t bear the thought of missing a week in fishing heaven. Thanks again, and we will see you next June!

Just finished my ten day trip at UCHI. I was here as a single, however you are never alone. I met some fine folks from all over the U.S. There was Roger and Jim from New Mexico. Two great guys to fish with and two of the nicest lawyers you will ever met. The Missouri Boys who I showed a spot to fish, and they finished with a larger walleye then me. A special thanks to Dave Sorenson who showed me how to “correctly” fish in the weeds. And the camp and staff was superior as usual. The fishing was great too. I finished with 35 walleyes over 24 inches The largest walleye being 29 inches. I had three bonus pike (38,39 and 40 inch) as well. You will be hard pressed to find a better trophy walleye lake than UCHI. The fact that it is a catch and release, barb-less hook and a strict size limit make it a truly one of a kind lake.

Judy,

I have to tell you — you have the most pleasant guests I’ve ever come across. I told you last year how much time Bill Duran spent talking with me about your camp and the fishing. I also exchanged e-mails with Walt at the time, and he was also very helpful. I sent him an e-mail over the weekend to let him know that I was, in fact, going to Uchi this year and to thank him again for taking the time to share information with me. He responded by offering to e-mail or fax me a copy of a map of the lake marked with the spots where they did well. These guys are really sportsmen in the true sense of the word - just great guys. I’m really looking forward to seeing Bill next week. Looking forward to seeing you as well. Thanks for all your help leading up to our trip.
Roger

Fish this morning and was windy, caught 20 walleye, and hooked a 26 inch walleye. After a great shorelunch with potatoe salad, went down to the south end of Uchi to fish. Ran into Bill Duran a veteran of Uchi, asked how the fishing was going. He said help yourself and fish this spot as he had caught several large ones with jig and minnow - I landed 29 1/2 inch walleye.

This being the biggest walleye I’ve caught, then started to run out of minnows so put a white twister tail on, then the very next cast landed a 28 inch walleye in the same hole.

So within 5 minutes, we landed safely a 29 1/2 inch walleye and a 28 inch walleye.

What a day - great day.
