This is our 5th year coming to Uchi Lake Lodge and after catching 581 fish in 2007, we thought it could not get much better. Boy were we wrong.
This year we caught three trophy fish: a 40 inch northern and a 32 inch and a 27.5 inch walleye. We also shattered our 2007 total of 581 by 171 posting a total of 752 fish which is over 107 fish a day.
Here is a daily summary of our catch:
Day 1 60
Day 2 88
Day 3 91
Day 4 100
Day 5 123
Day 6 154
Day 7 136
TOTAL 752
Significant Walleyes in inches: 32, 27.5, 26(2), 25.5, 24(4), 23(4), 22.5, 22(10), 21(5), 20(4)
Significant Northerns in inches: 40, 36(2), 33, 29.5, 27.5
Bernie also drug up a rod and reel from the bottom of the lake on two separate occasions. We later found out that our conservations license only allowed for one rod and reel catch so we threw one back into the lake.
No fishing report is complete without a fish story. Well here is ours. Bernie was bringing in a walleye and a northern made a pass at the walleye but missed. Then while Bernie was bringing the walleye to the surface and I was netting the the walleye the northern made a comeback and leaped out of the water and landed in the net with the walleye. It was a 36 inch northern and figured that since there were no hook marks in the fish I should get at least half credit for the catch. Bernie rode back to camp that night with the fish net in his hands hoping to catch a flying northern.

Day nine of my ten day trip. Seventeen Walleye over 23 inches. Largest was 31 1/2. Good news is, I caught the largest Walleye of my life. Bad news is, I lost two larger. Just another reason to come back next year. Oh, by the way, my fish is the largest caught this year. Sorry Mr.Grant I beat you out by .5 inches.

We have been coming up for over 20 years now and this had to be the best trip of all. We caught more big fish than ever. One day 7/14 was amazing, the party caught 34 walleys over 24″, 8 over 28″.
P.S. Any one looking for a good neterman, contact Bobby D. from Albert Lea. He also comes with full bar while you enjoy your day!! Plenty of excitement.

Unbelievable fishing. Are you kidding me? Yesterday, I caught a 31, 27, 26, 25.5, and a 24 inch walleye. Does it get any better than this?
