We were trolling and I hooked into a small Northern, but as I was reeling in, a 33″ Northern grabbed the smaller one and held on! We got both to the boat and landed them both at the same time. The large one never touched a hook–just held on with a death grip. Fishing at Uchi has been unbelievable after 2 days!!

Flying our this morning. Thought we would summarize the trip. Sean and I caught 11 walleyes over 24 inches in length using jigs and minnows. Northern were also productive using spinner baits and Husky Jerks. The largest northern was 36 inches.
A great trip with a wonderful staff.
We will definitely be back next year for my 15th trip.
Hi Judy,
This is just a note from our group to thank you and Bertha, Brenda, Jeff and Larry for another great year of fishing and eating. Your staff was ever gracious and extremely helpful throughout our June, 2008 week and the fishing continued to be wonderful. Although we were down to only four guys this year, we still caught 100âs of walleyes with 43 of them over 20 inches and at least a 100 northerns with 28 of them over 26 inches in length, including two 38â and our biggest fish, a 42 inch northern caught by Don Eisen, which weighed more than 22 pounds. The real topper for the week though was what happened on what turned out to be our very last cast of the trip. Three of us had already pulled in our lines and were ready to head back to pack up, but Don Eisen, the elder statesman of our group, still had his line in the water and hooked a shore lunch sized walleye. After setting the hook and getting the fish to the surface, Don turned to me and said, â I canât believe this. The only way Iâll ever catch a big one today is if something big hits this little one.â No sooner had he said this than a 38 inch northern came up and clobbered his walleye and wouldnât let go!!! Don inched both fish closer and closer to the boat and I managed to net both of them at the same time. What a fitting end to a terrific week. Thanks again for your hospitality and weâll see you next year.

Can you say 30½ Walleye? The morning was brisk and rainy. With the rain coming down, we took out time making our way to our boat. Once we made it to our spot, the rain stopped and clouds started to clear. Thatâs when the walleye woke up. We pulled in walleye after walleye for over 2 hours, and by the time we caught âem all our arms needed a rest.
After a quick dinner, we eagerly made our way to the Narrows. We made our first cast right at dusk.
Kyle brought in a 32â Northern on his first cast. After casting the shoreline for about an hour. We headed back into the Narrows.
At about 10:00 it was getting hard to see. The skipper wanted to head in, but the captain is in charge, and we werenât going anywhere. We were back in the narrows putting the Suick lure to work. With the first cast, Jimmy brought in another northern. Just 2 casts after the fish was released, Jimmy brought in a 35â Northern. Now it was too dark to be out, but we still had to make one more cast. The fish hit my lure like a ton of bricks. After a 5 minute battle we got it in the boat. The obvious assumption was we brought in a decent sized northern. Once we dragged the fish into the boat and took a closer look, we couldnât believe our eyes. We brought up a ginoramus Walleye with a 9â Suick perch colored lure. 30½â 10+ Lbs., with pictures to prove it. It was the icing in the cake for a great day of fishing at Uchi Lake Lodge.
Hi Pamm! Sorry for not posting the last few days we were too busy catching fish. Yesterday, we had a great shore lunch. Today we caught several walleyes 20 inches+. We’re about to head back out to catch the 40+ northern…Dad said he loves you..
Wind from the East is a beast. But not at
Uchi. Our first day was somewhat slow as
we tried to find them in this wind. Good
numbers jigging in 10- 20 feet on rocky bottoms. Size was somewhat small.
We began to look for larger fish and had
luck in the evening as Sean caught a 29″
walleye trolling a weighted J13 clown pattern Rapala.
